How will my answers be used?
We will select around 48 stories to be 3D printed and sculpted for Landscapes of the Imagination. This artwork is designed to float inside the atrium of Inspire, Airdrie’s new Public Library & Multi-Use Facility, opening in late 2025.
Who can share a story?
Anyone who wants to! We encourage participation from people of all ages and backgrounds.
Can my story be in another language?
Definitely. We are interested in stories from every country and in every language. If your story is not in English, that’s okay – just describe it for us. We want to hear from you!
Does my story have to be from a book?
Not necessarily. Your story could be from a book, an oral tradition, a myth from your cultural background, a tale passed down through generations of your family… etc! It should not be a personal anecdote about something that happened to you – we are focusing on the imagination and stories shared between communities. We are most interested in stories that make the reader/listener imagine rich places & landscapes.
How will you select the stories for the artwork?
We will select the 48 most imaginative, distinctive, and sculptable stories from the answer below. Even if your story is not selected for the artwork, your answers help us understand the imagination of the community.
What else I should know?
We will not include people in the sculpture, only places – the scenes and settings from the stories you describe. This allows more space for your imagination to wander.
Our scenes will be rendered in “blank page white” to emulate the pages of a book. Vegetation, water, and other natural details will be in colour.
We may decide to include animals if they’re vital to the story. We’re on the fence.
When are you collecting stories until?
EXTENDED until January 15, 2025. After that, we’ll start 3D modelling and sculpting…!
